After supplying all your  Embedded Development Tool needs for 42 years
Computer Solutions Ltd and its web shop are now closed.

Having reached the grand old age of 75 it is time to relax and fulfil other ambitions.

Its been an exciting ride with you, our customers, often on the bleeding edge of technology
and I thank you for your friendship, your trust, and your orders.

Stay well        I wish you all success in your future projects.

But what to do with the web site ?  It has taken >12 man years of work to create a repository of knowledge on many aspects of the art and science of embedded microprocessor development and even after closing the shop it still gets over 4,000 visitors per month.  So as a service to my customers I have decide to keep it live providing my technical insights on the products and then redirecting viewers to sites where they can purchase the items they used to buy from us. Follow the link   "Home"

The  "Information zone"  consists of articles produced as background tutorials on subjects of interest to those designing new products.  As different CPUs have became available this has lead to new development techniques and in particular to new ways of communicating between nodes.

Low Cost Development Tools
 for NXP Micros

PEmicro are leaders in low cost development tools for the a wide range of Micros that include on chip development and programming. Their products are included in many Freescale EVB packages.  We can offer PEmicro's expanding range of tools, including background debug mode (BDM)/JTAG/SWD interfaces, flash programmers, in-circuit debuggers and assembler/editors  all available off the shelf.  These products are full 32/64 bit windows apps that will run on all Windows OSs.

The Cyclone for ARMŽ Cortex will provide Interactive, Standalone and
Production Programming of Cortex on chip memory, it has Serial, USB and Ethernet connections
and covers
Kinetis, STM32, TI-(LM3S, LM4F) and NXP (M0, M3, M4) chips

Current NXP/Freescale Microcontroller families

All are supported by the Multilink-USB-Universal  as well as the Cyclone Universal and their FX enhanced variations.

Kinetis

The PEmicro Universal & Universal FX interfaces connect the Kinetis's JTAG or SWD port to a PC. Software is available to support that interface for debugging, flash programming and production testing.  The Cyclone provides both PC based development as well as PC and standalone production programming capabilities.

ColdFire

These CPUs all have an interface included on the CPU called BDM that provides a simple debugging mechanism. PEmicro produce USB and Ethernet interfaces between the PC and this BDM ColdFire standard. Software is available to support that interface for debugging, flash programming and production testing. PEmicro also have a complete debugger and GCC compiler with examples ready to run "out of the CD box". The Cyclones provides both PC based development as well as PC and standalone production programming capabilities. Coldfire V1 is supported by its own software

68HC12, HCS12 X&Z

These CPUs all have a special interface included on the CPU called BDM that provides a simple debugging mechanism. PEmicro produce parallel, USB and Ethernet interfaces between the PC and this BDM HC12 standard. Software is available to support those interfaces for debugging, flash programming and production testing.  The Cyclone Universal provides both PC based development as well as PC and standalone production programming capabilities. Coldfire V1 is supported by the same interfaces as the 68HC12

PPC Qorivva 55xx/56xx/57xx (AKA Nexus)

It  has a JTAG interface and PEmicro provide a USB PC interface to it along with software that includes a Flash Programmer a complete debugger and GCC compiler with examples ready to run "out of the CD box"  The Cyclone Universal provides both PC based development as well as PC and standalone production programming capabilities. The FX version gives higher transfer rates for large memory applications.

68HCS08/RS08

These CPUs all have a special interface included on the CPU called BDM that provides a simple debugging mechanism. PEmicro produce Parallel, USB and Ethernet interfaces between the PC and this BDM (to the HC12 standard). Software is available to support those interfaces for debugging, flash programming and production testing.

Cyclone Range of On Chip Flash Programmers

Cyclone

An introduction to this family of On chip Programmers

Cyclone for ARMŽ Cortex

These will program the internal flash of Cortex M series chips from Freescale, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, and NXP. Where there is an external address bus it can also program external flash

Cyclone Universal LC

The Cyclone Universal LC provide both Programming and debug facilities for
      HC08/S08/HC12 inc S,X,Z variants
      NXP/Freescale ColdFire V2/V3/V4,
      ARMŽ Cortex M0-4  Kinetis ,
     Power MPC5xx/8xx,
     Qorivva MPC55xx/56xx/57xx, DSC
     and MAC7xxx ARMŽ

Cyclone for STMicro will program the internal flash and where available external flash for STM8, STM32, and SPC56 families.

Cyclone for Renesas will program the internal flash and where available external flash for R8C, M16C, M16C/80, M32C, H8 and H8S/Tiny families.

Legacy  NXP/Freescale Microprocessors

68HC08

All 68HC08s have, built into the chip, a small software monitor (MON08) which links to the outside world via one of the chips pins and which can be used by developers to test programs and to program chips that contain Flash or EEPROM.  PEmicro provides USB interfaces to this non standard serial protocol and a free set of development software.

Power PC 5xx/8xx

The 500 & 800 family CPUs both have a BDM interface included on the CPU that provides a simple debugging mechanism. PEmicro produce parallel, USB and Ethernet interfaces between the PC and this BDM PPC standard. Software is available to support that interface for debugging, flash programming and production testing. The Cyclone Universal provides both PC based development as well as PC and standalone production programming capabilities.

68HC32 & 32+

These 68000 family CPUs such as the 68332 all have a special interface included on the CPU called BDM that provides a simple debugging mechanism. PEmicro produces a USB interfaces between the PC and this BDM 16/32 standard. Software is available to support that interface for debugging, flash programming and production testing.

68HC16 and MCORE

These CPUs all have a BDM interface included on the CPU that provides a simple debugging mechanism.  PEmicro produce USB interfaces between the PC and this BDM 16/32 standard. Software is available to support that interface for debugging, flash programming and production testing.
